Welcome to Acorns & Oaks

Acorns and Oaks are a fabulous class full of motivated, friendly and hard working children.

Our teacher in Acorns and Oaks is Miss Eeles who is currently on Maternity Leave, so Miss Gaskin will be leading the foundation stage in her absence. She will lead our Early Years Unit supported by our pre-school leader Mrs Seddon and Higher Level Teaching Assistant and Language Link specialist, Mrs Sutton. Mrs Malpas teaches in this class on a Monday when we enjoy some super hands-on learning! We enjoy a lively environment where children are inquisitive and keen to explore. Children are encouraged to talk about their learning and we begin on an exciting learning journey. We are always reflecting on our ‘next steps’ and considering how we can squeeze the learning out of every opportunity.Children talk about how they are learning through our Achievosaurs.

PE takes place on a Wednesday morning and kit must be in school every day.

Reading takes place throughout the week. Library and reading books will usually be changed on a Friday.

Home learning packs (Achievosaur Packs) are available to borrow on Monday and Friday mornings, these packs come with questions and activity ideas for you and your child.

Tapestry is our online learning journal system, if you have any questions about this please come and see Miss Eeles.

The children in Acorns and Oaks were asked why they enjoy learning in this class;

“We have digging deeper time when we carry on our learning by ourselves, I love it!” -Alby

“When we do phonics we are reading robots so we can sound-out words to read and write like the teacher.” – Elsie

“I like learning in Oaks because it is so fun, I love taking photos of my learning.” – Jaden

“In Oaks we learn loads of things and we have fun. I love when our mud kitchen is open because we learn and play in the mud!” – Macey

Tapestry Journal

Many of the parents attended our workshop on Tapestry which is our online learning journal. The children’s ‘wow’ moments of learning will be shared on this platform and this also allows you to add your own observations and comment on the photos, videos and text we have added. We hope that this will give you a really clear knowledge of your child’s development.
