On World Book day the Acorns and Oaks concocted their very own marvellous medicines! We began reading our third Roald Dahl book, ‘George’s Marvellous Medicine’ and decided to make our own potions with exciting results! The children wrote labels to tell me what was in their bottle and to explain what would happen as a result of drinking them. We also talked about the purpose of medicines, using safe ingredients with our play potions and only drinking things that our trusted grown ups had given us.

Throughout the rest of the day we took a trip to the bookshop to spend our vouchers, we enjoyed some paired reading with Sycamore class, paraded in our costumes, took part in ‘drop everything and read’ sessions when Mrs Clarke rang the school bell and we had story time in the playground. At the end of this ‘gloriumptious’ day our families were invited in to an assembly where prizes were given for most creative costumes and most unusual reading location! What a wonderful day we had.
