On Thursday 8th March 2018 the children in Acorns and Oaks celebrated World Book Day. They came to school dressed as their favourite fairytale character and took part in lots of fun activities linked to books.
Over the day we learnt all about the story of The Three Little Pigs. They learnt the story with actions, and took part in lots of different themed activties. We had a Three Little Pigs role play area where the children could act out the story. The children made their own pig masks, coloured in pictures and practiced the story ready for our assembly to parents at the end of the day.
Throughout the morning the children had the chance to visit the local bookshop to spend their World Book Day voucher. We walked down to WH Smith and chose a book to take home. All of the children showed fantastic manners and they really enjoyed having the chance to visit the bookshop. I hope the children are enjoying reading their new books at home.
After break we were visited by the children from Sycamore class. The children in Oaks and Acorns paired up with an older child and shared books together. The children loved having the chance to read with siblings and the older children were very caring towards the younger ones.
In the afternoon we got to read the book reviews which were written by our friends at Landscove school, it was fun to hear all about the children and find out about their favourite books.
We finished the day off with a whole school assembly sharing our learning from the day. The children performed The Three Little Pigs and blew everyone away with their confidence!!
